Dear Sirs,
Management of steamers. We are in receipt of your favor of the 10th inst. and in reply to the points you refer to we think as a matter of practice it would be better for owners brokers here to insure the excess value of Norwegian steamers because they might object to this being taken out of their hands as perhaps weakening their position with the owners but of course it will be our duty to see that the boat is fully covered before she starts on her voyage. We are doubtful whether a policy will be issued in Kroner and we are waiting until we put before the War Risks Association Messrs. clarkson's letter giving instructions to cover the "Isbjorn for 251099 Kroners, but we are afraid that the War Risks Association will turn it into sterling at the exchange of the day. It is our intention however to see them on the subject and to point out the difficulties which you as time chartered owners are in connection with the additional amounts which owners insist on covering if the exchange moves up. We take due note of your instructions that as you are only managing this steamer until she arrives at Boulogne that Messrs. Tabb & Burletson of Newcastle will have to repay you pro rata the insurance from Boulogne to the Tyne, both for Norwegian & excess insurance. We have taken a note to render debit notes accordingly.
Yours truly,

James Burness & Sons
